Anyone else noticing more pressure lately?

Been with UP for a few years now, and lately it feels like the screws are tightening. Not seeing any official layoff notices, but there's definitely a different vibe. Overtime is being scrutinized more, and there's a lot of talk about 'efficiency improvements' and 'streamlining operations.' Makes you wonder what's really going on behind the scenes. Feels like people are a bit more on edge, looking over their shoulders. I keep seeing articles popping up about increased theft on trains and how it might be linked to staffing changes, which just adds to the anxiety. Is anyone else feeling this shift? Am I just being paranoid or is there something brewing?

Yeah, I've felt it too. It's not just you. The efficiency push is real, and it's creating a lot of stress. Trying to do more with less always translates to more pressure on the folks actually doing the work. The talk about 'streamlining' feels like a euphemism for cutting corners or increasing workloads without adequate resources. Hope it doesn't lead to anything worse.

Interesting you bring that up. The increased scrutiny on overtime and the buzzwords about efficiency have definitely been noticeable. It creates an unsettling atmosphere when you're not sure what the end goal is. Combined with the external pressures like theft, it feels like a perfect storm for increased management oversight and, potentially, workforce adjustments down the line. Keeping an eye on it.
