What's with the sudden push for overtime reduction?

Hey everyone, just wanted to see if anyone else is noticing a weird push to cut back on overtime lately. I've been at UP for a few years now, and usually, if there's work, you can pick up extra hours to get it done and make a bit more cash. But lately, it feels like management is really cracking down, actively discouraging us from taking OT, or even outright saying 'no' when we ask. It's not like the workload has decreased, in fact, it feels like it's staying the same or even creeping up. Makes me wonder if this is a precursor to something, or if they're just trying to tighten the belt in a weird way. Anyone else getting this vibe or know what's going on?

It's definitely a strange shift. I've noticed it too. My guess is they're trying to control labor costs more tightly, maybe anticipating a slowdown or just trying to hit some internal budget targets. It's frustrating when the work is still there and we're being told not to do it. Hope it's a temporary thing and not a sign of bigger changes ahead. Keep an eye on how it plays out.
