Has anyone else noticed reduced branch overtime?

Over the last two pay periods, our branch manager has been cracking down hard on any OT. I get that we need to manage costs, but this feels different than the usual seasonal tightening. We’re being told that all non-essential maintenance is on pause and that we need to be extremely lean with our staffing levels on weekends. It feels like they are grooming the P&L to look a specific way for investors, likely to offset some of the larger project costs or debt service. A few guys in the yard are whispering about potential 'right-sizing' coming in Q3, but management refuses to address it. If a layoff is coming, I wish they’d just rip the band-aid off instead of squeezing us for every cent of productivity while acting like everything is normal. I’m tired of the 'family' talk when the numbers are clearly being prioritized over headcount security. Has anyone in the field heard anything concrete about restructuring, or are we all just waiting for the other shoe to drop?

It’s definitely not just your branch. The word is coming down from the top to cut every corner possible right now. They’re squeezing the P&L because the numbers aren't hitting the targets Wall Street expects for this quarter. It’s the classic play: stop all preventive maintenance and starve the overtime budget just to make the margins look healthier than they actually are. Everyone is feeling the heat, but don't expect it to ease up until the next earnings call is in the rearview mirror. Keep your head down and watch your back out there.

I’ve been seeing the same pattern at our location, and it’s honestly exhausting. They talk about safety and readiness, but then they pull the plug on the manpower needed to actually maintain the fleet. It’s clear they are prioritizing short-term financial optics over operational reality. It feels like they are prepping the books for something, but in the meantime, the field staff is just expected to do more with less while the equipment quality slowly degrades. Don't go burning yourself out for a company that treats labor like a simple line item to be erased.
