Anyone else feeling the 'restructuring' tension this week?

It’s been deathly quiet in Slack lately. Everyone keeps talking about the fallout from the runtime fee debacle and the subsequent leadership changes, but you can feel the anxiety in every town hall. Management keeps using terms like 'optimizing our portfolio' and 'focusing on core competencies,' which is basically corporate speak for 'we’re trimming the fat.' I’ve been here for three years and I’ve never seen morale this low. Half the team is updating their portfolios during lunch, and the other half is just waiting for the calendar invite to drop. Is it just my department, or are you guys hearing rumors about another round hitting before the Q1 earnings? I really don’t want to go through another cycle of 'we’re doing this to be sustainable' while the stock keeps doing what it’s doing.

I've been watching the layoffs from the outside, and it’s honestly heartbreaking. It feels like every time they announce a new strategy, it’s just another nail in the coffin for the culture that made Unity great. When leadership stops valuing the people who actually built the engine and starts focusing solely on short-term margin expansion, you lose the soul of the company. If you're updating your portfolio, don't feel guilty. You need to prioritize your own stability because this ship clearly doesn't have a steady hand at the wheel right now.

That 'optimizing' language is a massive red flag. I remember hearing the exact same phrases right before my previous company gutted the entire engineering department. It’s a classic move to make the inevitable cuts sound like a strategic pivot rather than a failure of management. If the vibes are as bad as you say, your gut instinct to look elsewhere is probably right. Don't wait for the inevitable meeting invite to start reaching out to your network; the industry is tough, but your skills are still valuable elsewhere.
