Yeah, I've heard similar rumblings from folks in other departments. It's definitely more than just a few individual teams. "Budget reviews" is the standard corporate speak for "we're trying to figure out how much money we can cut without anyone noticing too much." Hang in there. Hopefully, it's just a rough patch and not a sign of bigger issues, but it's understandable to feel uneasy when things go quiet on the hiring front.
My team's been on a hiring freeze for months, but it's always been tied to specific project funding cycles. This sounds different, especially the 'strategic realignment' part.
