Seeing a lot of discussion here and elsewhere about how technology is changing the logistics game. At UPS, we've seen significant investments in automation, route optimization software, and other tech aimed at improving efficiency. While management often frames this as progress and a way to make jobs easier, the reality can feel different on the ground. I've been thinking about how these advancements might be contributing to a gradual reduction in certain roles, even without overt layoff announcements. For example, improved sorting technology might mean fewer people are needed on the line, or smarter routing could reduce the need for certain support staff.
