Saw the WARN notice hit for College Park today. 91 people getting the boot in mid-May. It’s always the same story—leadership talks about 'streamlining' and 'operational efficiency' while the rest of us are left wondering who is next on the chopping block. I’ve been with USB for a few years now, and honestly, the anxiety is starting to outweigh the paycheck. Does anyone know if this is limited to the MD site or if there’s a broader consolidation happening across the regional offices? I’m hearing whispers about more 'rebalancing' in Q2, but nobody in management will give a straight answer. If you're out there and affected, I'm genuinely sorry. The job market feels incredibly stagnant right now, and finding a lateral move in banking is like finding a needle in a haystack. Stay safe everyone, and keep your resumes updated. It’s getting brutal out there.

It is never just one location with these guys. When they start using buzzwords like 'operational efficiency' and 'streamlining,' it is usually code for a company-wide bloodbath. I have been watching the trends across the regional offices, and it definitely feels like they are clearing house to hit those quarterly targets at the expense of the staff. If you are hearing rumors about other sites, trust your gut. Start polishing that resume now because the corporate messaging is almost never the full story. Stay safe out there.

I am really sorry to hear you are dealing with this. The anxiety of waiting for the other shoe to drop is honestly worse than the layoff itself. Unfortunately, this seems to be the new normal at USB. I wouldn't count on this being limited to Maryland; they tend to roll these cuts out in waves to keep the noise down. Keep your head down, keep your network active, and definitely start looking elsewhere. This place just does not value tenure or loyalty like it used to, and it is clear that nobody is truly safe right now.
