I'm in a back-office role and haven't seen any direct signs of layoffs. However, I've definitely noticed a tighter grip on new hires and a general increase in efficiency reviews. It feels like management is being extra cautious with spending across the board, which could be a precursor to something, or just standard belt-tightening. Hopefully, it's the latter.
Yeah, that 'optimizing resources' language is definitely going around. My department hasn't had any layoffs yet, but we've also had a few key people leave voluntarily and they haven't been backfilled. It creates a bit of extra pressure. It’s hard to shake the feeling that something is shifting, even if it's not a full-blown crisis yet.
