Just saw the latest WARN notice hit for College Park. Looks like 91 people are getting the boot effective mid-May. Honestly, I’m not surprised given the push for consolidation lately, but it’s still brutal to see the headcount shrinking like this. Is anyone else hearing rumors about other regional hubs being on the chopping block? I've been with the bank for five years and the anxiety is starting to outweigh the paycheck. Are we just waiting for the next shoe to drop, or is this specific to the MD office strategy?

It is honestly exhausting watching the constant cycle of consolidation. I have been through three rounds of cuts in the last four years, and at this point, the 'efficiency' narrative has completely lost its luster. If you are starting to feel that level of anxiety, start looking for an exit plan now rather than waiting for the next announcement. It is not personal, it is just their bottom line, and unfortunately, none of us are safe when they decide to trim regional fat to appease shareholders.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this stress; it is incredibly frustrating to see consistent layoffs while management talks about growth and technology investments. While this looks like a specific strategic move for the College Park site, these things rarely happen in isolation. The bank has been aggressively pushing for centralization for a while now, so it is safer to assume that other regional hubs are likely under a similar microscope. Keep your resume updated and network outside the company—it is the only real job security left in this industry.
