USB - Is it just me or is the 'belt-tightening' getting serious?

Hey all, been with USB for a few years now in the [specific department/area, e.g., tech, operations]. Lately, it feels like the tap is really being turned down. Budgets are being scrutinized like never before, travel is practically non-existent unless it's life or death, and there's been a lot of talk about 'efficiency gains' which we all know can be code for cuts. Anyone else in other departments noticing this? I'm not seeing any official layoff news, but the atmosphere is definitely shifting. Trying to stay optimistic, but it's hard when you hear about hiring freezes in some areas and a general slowdown in new projects. Just wondering if others are feeling this pressure cooker vibe and what you're doing to prepare or navigate it.

I've definitely noticed a similar vibe in my area. It feels like every expense, no matter how small, is getting a second and third look. The push for 'efficiency' is palpable, and while I haven't heard direct layoff rumors, the general mood is one of caution. It makes you wonder what the long-term strategy really is when every nickel is being squeezed.

Yeah, the tightening is real. I'm in [different department/area] and it's the same story here. Budgets are tighter than a drum, and any kind of discretionary spending is basically off the table. 'Efficiency' is the buzzword, but it's creating a lot of uncertainty. Hoping it's just a temporary phase and not a sign of bigger issues down the road.
