Anyone else feeling the chill at Valero?

Hey folks, seeing a lot of quiet buzz lately, and I'm not sure if it's just me or if there's something brewing. Been with the company a few years now, and the vibe has definitely shifted. More meetings with "resource optimization" in the title than usual, and some project teams seem a bit leaner than they did a quarter ago. No official word on anything, of course, but the rumor mill is starting to churn. Has anyone else in ops, engineering, or even corporate picked up on anything similar? Curious to hear if others are noticing a change in atmosphere or workload distribution. Trying to stay optimistic, but it's hard not to overthink when things feel a little... uncertain.

Yeah, I've noticed a few things too. Feels like things are tightening up, which isn't totally unusual given market conditions, but the 'optimization' meetings are definitely a red flag for me. It's the kind of language that usually precedes some kind of restructuring, even if they don't call it that. Just hoping it doesn't impact the day-to-day too much for those of us on the ground.

I'm hearing similar whispers from my end. It's the subtlety that's concerning – not a big announcement, but a gradual shift. Project scopes are being questioned more, and there's a definite increase in efficiency-focused discussions. My guess is they're anticipating some headwinds and proactively trimming any fat. Let's just keep our heads down and focus on our work for now.
