Hey everyone, been seeing some chatter on here and other places about potential layoffs at Valero. Nothing concrete, no official announcements, but the background noise is definitely picking up. Curious to hear what people are experiencing on the ground. Has anyone noticed any hiring freezes, increased workload without new resources, or just a general sense of unease in team meetings or water cooler chats? My department has been pretty quiet on new projects, and there's been a bit more emphasis on efficiency and cost-saving measures than usual. It's probably nothing, but it's hard not to get a little antsy when you hear rumblings. Anyone else in refining, corporate, or support roles seeing or hearing anything that adds to this narrative? Been feeling it too. My site's been unusually quiet on the recruitment front for a while now, and people are definitely picking up on it. There's a general sense of 'hurry up and wait' on a lot of initiatives, which wasn't the case even six months ago. Folks are trying to stay positive, but the uncertainty is palpable in the break room discussions. Just hoping it's a temporary market adjustment and not something more significant.
