Valero: Feeling the pressure - anyone else?

Lately, the general vibe around here at Valero has been pretty tense. There's a lot of talk about belt-tightening, even if nothing concrete has been announced. Seems like budgets are being scrutinized more than ever, and there's a subtle but persistent pressure to do more with less. I've seen some roles go unfilled for longer periods, and new hires seem to be fewer and further between. It's creating a bit of a workload imbalance for those of us still here. I'm trying to stay positive and focus on my work, but it's hard not to speculate when you see these kinds of trends. Has anyone else picked up on this? Is this an industry-wide thing, or is Valero specifically feeling the pinch more than others? Curious to hear if others are experiencing this too, and what your take is.

Yeah, I'm picking up on that too. It feels like the whispers are getting louder about efficiency drives. Budgets have definitely been tighter in my department, and it's noticeable how much longer things are taking to get approved, if they get approved at all. The unfilled positions are a real drag; makes you wonder about future growth or even just maintaining current operations smoothly.

Totally feel this. The 'do more with less' mantra is practically a daily affirmation at this point. It's not just budget scrutiny, but also the increased expectations without corresponding resources. Makes the good days feel few and far between when you're constantly juggling tasks that used to be spread out. Hoping things stabilize soon, but it's tough to see the light at the end of the tunnel right now.
