Any word on Q3/Q4 headcount changes at Vertex?

Hey everyone, Been seeing some chatter, or maybe just a gut feeling, that things might be tightening up at Vertex. Not hearing about any official layoffs, but the usual hiring spree seems to have cooled off significantly. My team's headcount discussions are getting a lot more scrutiny, and some roles we thought were open-and-go are now stuck in limbo. Has anyone else picked up on this? Are performance reviews feeling more intense lately, or is it just me projecting? Wondering if this is a sector-wide thing or specific to VRTX given some of the recent clinical trial updates. Curious to hear what others are experiencing or hearing through the grapevine, especially in R&D and early clinical. Trying to gauge the overall stability and future outlook without causing panic, but also want to be realistic.

I've noticed a similar slowdown in hiring on my end too. It's not just your team. The vibe feels a bit more cautious, definitely less of the 'all systems go' from a few months back. Performance review season always brings some anxiety, but this year does feel like there's a sharper focus on metrics and deliverables across the board. Hopefully, it's just a standard cycle recalibration.

Interesting that you're picking up on that too. While I haven't heard anything concrete about headcount reductions, the pace of approvals for new positions has definitely slowed. Departments seem to be evaluating needs more rigorously before opening new roles. It's a good reminder to focus on demonstrating value and hitting those key objectives. We'll likely see more clarity once Q3 numbers are out.
