Anyone else feeling the pressure at Vertex lately?

Hey everyone, been with Vertex for a few years now in a non-research facing role. Lately, there's been a general feeling of unease, a subtle shift in the air. Heard some whispers about 'efficiency improvements' and 'strategic realignments' but nothing concrete. Project timelines seem to be tightening up, and there's definitely more scrutiny on budgets. It's not outright panic, but the usual buzz feels a bit more muted. Is anyone else in different departments picking up on this? Curious if it's just my team or if there's a broader sentiment. Trying not to jump to conclusions, but the pharma/biotech industry is a rollercoaster, and we've had a good run. Wondering if this is just a natural cycle or something more.

I've definitely noticed the increased scrutiny on budgets too, even from my side of things. It feels like every expense is being looked at twice, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing in principle, it does add to a general sense of caution. The 'efficiency improvements' talk is everywhere, but like you said, it's all very vague. Hoping it translates to smarter ways of working and not just more pressure.

Yeah, the 'strategic realignments' buzzword is definitely making the rounds. I'm in a support function and we're seeing some shifts in priorities, which is to be expected, but the lack of clear communication is what's unsettling. It's making it hard to plan ahead and feel confident about project trajectories. The atmosphere feels a bit more guarded than it used to be.
