Does anyone have clarity on the severance terms for the 84 people let go on Monday? I’m seeing a lot of conflicting info flying around Slack and LinkedIn. My manager was incredibly vague about the transition period and whether the COBRA subsidies are actually being extended past the standard three months. I’ve been at VRTX for five years and I’ve never seen the morale this low. It feels like we are pivoting away from our core pipeline projects to chase whatever is trending on the market, and the people on the ground are the ones paying the price. I’m currently looking at my options, but the market feels weirdly quiet right now. If you were impacted, are you seeing any recruiters reaching out, or is it crickets for everyone? Also, curious if anyone has heard if there’s a second wave coming before the end of Q4. The lack of transparency from leadership is honestly more exhausting than the work itself at this point.

The internal communication during this transition has been abysmal. I was also caught in the shuffle, and HR is being intentionally tight-lipped about the specifics. My advice is to document every single interaction with your manager and push back via email to get concrete answers on COBRA. Don't rely on those vague Slack promises. The shift in focus away from our established pipeline is concerning for everyone left behind, so make sure you prioritize your own financial protection before you fully disengage. You deserve clarity after five years of loyalty.
