Is the R&D pipeline actually slowing down or is this just cost cutting?

Watching the latest WARN notice for 125 heads hit the wire today really kills the morale. Management keeps selling this vision of a 'patient-focused future' during the Town Halls, but how are we supposed to build that future when the teams responsible for the actual science keep getting pruned? I’ve seen some of my best colleagues get their access revoked mid-sprint this morning. It feels like the company is pivoting hard toward short-term optics for the shareholders rather than doing the heavy lifting in the lab. Is anyone else feeling like the 'innovation' they preach is just becoming a shell of what it used to be? I'm worried that by the time we reach our next big milestone, we won't have the institutional knowledge left to actually execute on it. If you were impacted today, I’m truly sorry—this place is starting to feel like a revolving door instead of a career.

It’s the classic pharma cycle. They talk a big game about innovation to keep the stock price propped up, but the second the quarterly margins look tight, they gut the R&D groups that made them successful in the first place. You can’t pivot toward a 'patient-focused future' when you’re constantly thinning the herd of the researchers actually tasked with solving those problems. It’s disheartening to watch, but it seems like leadership is prioritizing optics for the next earnings call over any sort of long-term sustainable growth.
