The shift in tone is impossible to ignore. When leadership stops mentioning the roadmap and pivots entirely to 'efficiency,' it’s clear the strategy has hit a wall. They are clearly bracing for something painful, and the lack of transparency is the worst part. I’ve noticed the same hesitation in our department; nobody wants to ask the hard questions because the answers are clearly not going to be good. Keep your resume polished because this feels like the beginning of a much larger restructuring phase.
Honestly, I wouldn't read too much into the vagueness yet. These all-hands meetings are scripted to death by PR teams, and they probably didn't want to commit to anything before the board finalizes the next quarterly goals. The EV transition is expensive and complex, so some level of uncertainty is baked into the process right now. Just focus on your specific deliverables for now; rumors are usually way more stressful than the actual corporate policy changes end up being.
