VMC - Signs pointing to a rough patch ahead?

Unsubstantiated, but the "vibe" at Vulcan Materials is definitely shifting. Seeing some departments hiring freeze, and a few long-term contractors weren't renewed. Leadership is being cagey, lots of "strategic realignment" talk in internal comms. It's not a layoff announcement, not yet, but the precursor signs are there. My team's workload has been inconsistent lately, which is unusual for this time of year. Anyone else getting the same impression? Curious if this is a widespread feeling or if I'm just overthinking it. Trying to prepare mentally and financially, just in case. Anybody have intel from other divisions?
