Bentonville exodus: Any updates on the August 7th cuts?

Is anyone else still reeling from the news yesterday? I feel like the floor just fell out from under us. I spent years grinding for this company, believing the talk about 'stability' and 'career growth' in Bentonville, only to get the invite for a 15-minute sync with HR out of nowhere. The vibe in the office today is absolutely toxic—people are walking around like zombies, not sure if their badge is going to work tomorrow. What I don’t get is how leadership justifies these 'restructuring' moves when the profit reports have been so strong lately. It feels like they are just trimming the headcount to boost the stock price for the quarter, not because the business is struggling. I’ve been checking my email every five minutes waiting for the next round of 'notifications.' If you were impacted, please share if you’re seeing any decent severance packages or if they’re playing hardball. I’m honestly just trying to figure out if I should start updating my resume tonight or wait for the other shoe to drop.

It’s honestly heartbreaking to read this. I went through a similar layoff cycle a few years back, and that feeling of the floor falling out is indescribable. The 'stability' pitch is just corporate marketing at this point, and it’s clear they don't value the years of loyalty people put into the brand. Take some time to step away from the office environment if you can—the toxic energy is contagious, and you need to preserve your mental health before planning your next move. Don't let their business decisions define your worth as a professional.

Honestly, this is just the corporate machine doing what it always does to satisfy shareholders. When leadership starts using terms like 'restructuring' while the stock is doing fine, it’s rarely about the work and always about optics and bottom-line management. It sucks that the rank-and-file are the ones paying the price for these executive pivots. Update your resume tonight, reach out to your network, and remember that you’re just a line item to them. Use the severance if you got it and get out of there as soon as possible.
