Heard anything about inventory roles getting cut?

I'm in inventory management at a regional distribution center, been with Walmart for 8 years. The word on the floor is always layoffs, layoffs, layoffs. But lately, it feels different, you know? More hushed conversations, managers looking stressed when they think nobody's watching. Anyone else in a similar role hearing anything concrete about potential cuts in inventory or supply chain? I'm not sure if I should start updating my resume. It's hard to tell if it's just the usual paranoia or if something is actually brewing. The holiday season ramp up is usually our 'safe' period, but I have a bad feeling about after January.

I've been with Walmart almost as long as you have, but in a different region. What you're describing resonates. The 'hushed conversations' thing is a classic sign. I would definitely start polishing your resume. It doesn't hurt to be prepared, even if it's just anxiety. Better safe than sorry, especially in this economy.

Honestly, it's *always* layoffs at Walmart. I swear, I've heard the same rumors every single year since I started. Managers always look stressed, that's just part of their job. I wouldn't panic yet. Focus on doing your job well and try to ignore the noise. If they're gonna cut, they're gonna cut. Nothing you can do about it except drive yourself crazy worrying.
