Walmart's severance packages can be all over the place. A close friend worked in supply chain management there for 8 years and got about a month's pay when they restructured his department. It really seems to depend on your level, how long you've been there, and how they spin the layoff. Start documenting everything you do and consider quietly updating your resume, just in case.
Don't believe everything you hear. While restructuring is possible, those 'ridiculously generous' packages are highly unlikely unless you are executive level. Walmart is known for being pretty tight-fisted. Focus on doing your job well and try not to stress too much about gossip. If the rumors get too disruptive, consider talking to HR about the uncertainty.
