Feeling like a number instead of an employee lately

Honestly, the way this company has been handling communication lately is insulting. I’ve been with Waste Management for over five years, and I’ve never seen morale this low. They talk about being an 'essential' business, but the minute the numbers don't perfectly align with the board's expectations, we're all disposable. The recent layoffs in Albany were handled so cold-bloodedly—no transparency, just sudden access termination and a generic email. It’s impossible to stay motivated when you see your colleagues getting walked out. The management team seems completely detached from the reality on the ground. I’m tired of the corporate speak and the fake 'family' culture facade they push during the holidays. It’s all about the margins, not the people keeping the trucks rolling. Anyone else feeling like the burnout is becoming impossible to manage given the current climate?

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. It feels like every time we turn around, the company is prioritizing the bottom line over the people who actually do the work. The transparency issue isn't just in Albany; it’s a culture problem that’s bleeding into every division. When you lose the human element, you lose the people who actually care about the job. Hang in there and keep your options open, because you’re right—they see us as line items, not human beings.

That’s standard corporate nonsense, unfortunately. Waste Management has become so bureaucratic that they’ve forgotten that the guys on the ground are the ones keeping the whole system running. It’s infuriating to be treated like a liability after years of service. If you’re feeling this burnt out, it might be time to look elsewhere. You deserve a workplace that actually acknowledges your contribution instead of just waiting for the next quarterly spreadsheet update to decide if you’re still valuable.
