Anyone else seeing the 'process improvement' consultants around?

I’ve seen folks in suits who clearly aren't from around here walking through the engineering floor every day this week. They aren't even talking to us, just staring at workstations and taking notes on clipboards. Every time they pass by, the vibe in the office tanks. I’ve been through a reorg at a previous utility company, and this is exactly how it started. Management is acting all 'business as usual' on the internal calls, but the lack of transparency regarding the hiring freeze in our sector is telling. If anyone hears anything about a timeline for a restructuring plan, please drop a hint. Trying to decide if I should start reaching out to my recruiter contacts or stick it out until the end of the year.

They’ve been hovering around the substation control rooms too. It’s impossible to get any actual work done when you feel like you’re being watched by someone who doesn't even know what a breaker switch does. Everyone is already talking about polishing their resumes. If they think these consultants are going to improve efficiency by hovering over our shoulders, they clearly don't understand the complexities of our infrastructure. Expect the service quality to drop if they start pushing out the people who actually know how to keep the grid running.
