WEC Energy: Anyone else seeing budget cuts and project freezes?

Hey all, been with WEC for a few years now in the [Department Name] department. Lately, it feels like the atmosphere has shifted. Budgets seem tighter than ever, and several projects I was working on have either been put on indefinite hold or scaled back significantly. My manager keeps talking about "optimizing resources" and "streamlining operations," which sounds like corporate speak for something else. I haven't heard any official layoff news, and my direct team is still intact, but there's definitely a weird vibe. Anyone else in other departments noticing similar things? Or is it just us?

Yeah, I've noticed the same thing. My team's been asked to justify every single expense, and even small things are getting scrutinized. We had a new initiative planned for Q3 that's now been pushed to next year, supposedly due to 'unforeseen market conditions.' It's definitely a different vibe around here than even six months ago. Hoping it's just a temporary slowdown and not a sign of bigger issues down the line.

It's not just you. I'm in a different division, but we're seeing similar 'resource optimization' talk. Travel budgets are slashed, training opportunities are drying up, and there's a general feeling of unease about future projects. It's making it hard to plan and stay motivated when you feel like everything's up in the air. Let's hope management communicates more clearly soon about what's really going on.
