WEC Energy: Feeling the crunch - hiring slowdown and project review?

Just wanted to check in and see if others at WEC Energy are experiencing a similar vibe. For the past quarter or so, it feels like the brakes have been applied to a lot of things. The obvious one is hiring – seems like open requisitions are either disappearing or taking an eternity to get approved, if they get approved at all. Beyond that, I'm seeing more intense scrutiny on project budgets and even a few initiatives that were previously green-lit are now under review or paused indefinitely. It's not overt layoffs, but it's creating a sense of unease. Anyone in a position to know if this is a company-wide push for efficiency, or just a temporary slowdown before things pick back up? Curious if this is a widespread feeling or if I'm just in a particularly impacted area. Trying to stay positive, but it's hard when the signals are mixed.

Yeah, I've definitely noticed the hiring freeze. It's tough out there, especially for those looking to join or move internally. Seems like the company is getting really cautious about new headcount, which is understandable given the economic climate, but it does create a bit of uncertainty about future growth and capacity. Hopefully, it's a temporary measure and things pick up soon.

I'm with you on the project review stuff. It feels like every dollar is being scrutinized more than usual. Even routine expenses are getting a second look. There's a definite sense of belt-tightening across the board. I'm curious to see how this impacts our ability to innovate and execute on longer-term strategic goals if these reviews become the norm.
