Welltower compensation and career growth concerns

Just wanted to open a discussion about compensation and career progression at Welltower. I've been here for about 4 years now, and while I appreciate the stability, I'm starting to question if my salary is truly competitive, especially given the current economic climate and the demands of my role in [mention your role vaguely, e.g., portfolio management]. The benefits are decent, but the base salary increase year-over-year feels minimal. I'm also curious about the upward mobility. It feels like it takes ages to move up, and when promotions do happen, the salary bump isn't always what I'd expect. Are others feeling this way? Is it just the nature of a large, established REIT, or are there specific issues at Welltower? Any insights from those who have been here longer or who have recently moved on would be super helpful. Trying to figure out if this is the right place for long-term growth or if I should start exploring other options.

I hear you on the compensation. It's a common discussion point across many companies right now, especially in real estate. While Welltower offers a solid foundation and stability, I've also noticed the annual increases can feel a bit stagnant compared to external market rates, particularly for more specialized roles. Have you looked into specific industry benchmarks for your function recently? Sometimes a broader perspective can help assess where you stand.

Regarding career growth, I think it's often about creating your own opportunities within a larger organization. While formal promotion paths can sometimes be slow, actively seeking out new projects, cross-functional collaborations, or additional responsibilities can really highlight your value and open doors. It might be worth having a direct conversation with your manager about your long-term aspirations and what specific skills or experiences they think would be beneficial for advancement.
