West Pharm: Survival mode or just standard cost-cutting?

It feels like every quarter now we’re bracing for another restructuring announcement. The Scottsdale RIF is definitely a punch to the gut, especially with the timing right after the recent leadership offsite. You’d think with the demand for injectable drug delivery systems, we’d be protected, but clearly, the focus is entirely on EBITDA and cutting overhead. I’m curious if those of you outside of Scottsdale are seeing similar 'performance-based' exits? I feel like the writing is on the wall for several other sites. It’s hard to stay focused on high-priority projects when you’re constantly wondering if your department is next on the chopping block. At this point, the 'innovation' messaging feels like a total joke. Has anyone actually received a transparent answer on why they’re slashing the AZ headcount specifically, or is it just the usual vague corporate speak about 'streamlining operational efficiencies'?

It’s not just Scottsdale. We’ve seen similar headcount reductions across other sites over the last few months. The leadership loves to frame these moves as 'optimizing our operational footprint' or 'aligning with market shifts,' but it feels like we’re just thinning the herd to appease shareholders. It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re constantly looking over your shoulder, wondering if your team is the next target for the efficiency axe. Loyalty feels like a one-way street these days, and the transparency from the top is basically non-existent.
