West Pharmaceutical: Performance reviews seem unusually harsh this cycle

Is it just me or did anyone else find their performance review at West Pharma this cycle to be particularly brutal? I've always received solid feedback, but this time around it felt like nitpicking and a lot of 'areas for improvement' that seemed completely out of left field. It makes me wonder if there's a push to trim down the workforce by making it harder for people to get good ratings. Saw a few colleagues looking pretty dejected after their reviews too. Anyone else experiencing this? Could this be a precursor to something more significant down the line? Just trying to gauge if this is a company-wide trend or if I'm overthinking it.

I'm sorry to hear your review was rough. I haven't had mine yet, but I've definitely noticed a shift in the overall atmosphere lately. Seems like there's more pressure from upper management to meet targets, and I wouldn't be surprised if that trickles down into how performance is being measured. It's concerning if good people are being pushed out. Hope things improve for you and your colleagues.

This is a pretty common complaint I've been hearing too. It feels like the goalposts have moved, and the criteria for 'exceeding expectations' has gotten much stricter. It's disheartening when you feel like you're doing good work and then get hit with a review that doesn't reflect it. Hopefully, it's just a temporary adjustment and not a sign of bigger changes to come.
