Is anyone else feeling the pressure to leave?

Honestly, the atmosphere at Western Digital lately has been soul-crushing. With the latest round of cuts in Vancouver, morale is officially in the gutter. It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re constantly wondering if you’re next on the spreadsheet. The projects are getting pushed back, the budget is tighter than ever, and I feel like I'm doing the work of three people just to keep my head above water. Is it just my department, or is everyone feeling this level of burnout? I’ve started updating my resume tonight because I just don’t see a path forward here where we aren't constantly worried about the next headcount reduction. Anyone else looking for the exit, or am I just being paranoid?

It is definitely not just your department. The feeling of being spread thin is universal here right now. I have seen so many talented people pack their desks that it feels like a ghost town in some wings. The lack of clear communication from leadership regarding the roadmap just adds to the anxiety. I started looking elsewhere last month because, at this point, waiting for the next round of cuts feels like a waste of time. Your burnout is completely justified, and you are not alone in thinking it is time to move on.

I have been here for years, and I have never seen the culture decay this quickly. It used to be a decent place to build a career, but now it feels like a sinking ship where efficiency is prioritized over actual people. When management starts treating us like line items instead of contributors, that is the clear signal to start the exit process. Stop stressing about the projects that keep getting pushed back; just polish up that resume and focus on your next move. There is life after this place, and it is honestly much brighter.
