WDC - Hiring freeze? Feels like it.

Hey everyone, been with WDC for a few years now, mostly in engineering. Lately, it feels like the spigot has been turned off. Normally, we'd have a few positions open on the team, some internal transfers, but it's been crickets for months. Even the usual churn seems to have died down. Asked around internally, and nobody seems to have a clear answer, just vague 'budget constraints' and 'strategic realignment.' Anyone else in other departments noticing the same thing? Is this a company-wide thing or just a specific division? Feels a bit like a hiring freeze, but no official word. Trying to get a read on the general sentiment.

Yeah, definitely feeling the same vibe in my division. It's not just engineering, it seems pretty widespread. We've had a couple of roles that were supposed to be backfilled for ages, and now they're just... gone. The general mood is definitely one of caution, and those 'budget constraints' and 'strategic realignment' buzzwords are being thrown around a lot. Makes you wonder what the long-term plan is, doesn't it? Hopefully, it's just a temporary lull and things pick up soon, but it's hard not to be a bit concerned.

I can confirm this from my end as well, and it's not limited to just one or two departments. The hiring pipeline has been exceptionally dry for quite some time now. Internal mobility seems to have stalled too, which is unusual for WDC. The lack of transparency is frustrating; everyone's just guessing at this point. It's creating a bit of uncertainty, and you can feel the hesitancy in discussions about future projects. Hopefully, management will provide some clarity soon, because the current silence is not ideal for morale.
