WDC - What's the vibe on recent performance reviews?

So, performance review season just wrapped up (or is wrapping up for some). I got my feedback, and it was... fine. No major complaints, no glowing praise either. But it felt a bit muted compared to previous years. Some of the usual 'areas for growth' felt more like gentle nudges towards 'maybe you're not essential.' Curious to hear if others are feeling a similar shift in how performance is being evaluated. Are people getting the usual ratings, or is there a general down-tick? Trying to gauge if this is just my manager's style or if the company's overall tone has changed with the current economic climate. Anyone have any insights or experiences to share?

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling a similar vibe. My review was also pretty standard, 'meets expectations' all around, but the follow-up conversations seemed less about development and more about justifying headcount. It’s like they’re subtly signaling that even solid performance isn't a guarantee anymore. Makes you wonder about future promotions or even just job security long-term. The usual 'we're investing in our people' talk feels a bit hollow this year, doesn't it? Hoping it's just a temporary adjustment phase.
