Anyone else hearing whispers about Q3 headcounts?

Is it just me, or has the vibe in the office shifted lately? I’ve been hearing some chatter in the hallways about budget tightening and a hiring freeze that feels a bit more aggressive than the usual end-of-quarter stuff. I’m in the grid modernization division, and everything seems fine for now, but there’s this lingering sense of anxiety every time a calendar invite pops up from leadership for an 'all-hands' or a 'strategic update.' It feels like we are bracing for something that hasn't officially been announced yet. I’ve checked the internal boards and everything looks status quo, but we all know how this company operates—they’ll keep the 'business as usual' front up until the very last second. Has anyone else heard anything credible, or is this just the typical corporate paranoia that hits when the stock price fluctuates? Really hoping it's just talk, but I’ve already started updating my resume just in case. If anyone has intel on whether we’re actually looking at a reduction in force or just standard cost-cutting measures, please share. Stay safe out there.

The rumors are definitely circulating, and you aren’t imagining things. I’ve heard similar murmurs from people in different departments, not just grid mod. It feels like the company is pivoting hard toward cost-cutting to meet the Q3 targets, and those 'strategic updates' are usually where they break the news to keep the stock price stable. Keep your head down and start backing up your files just in case, because that sense of anxiety is usually a pretty reliable indicator that management is preparing for a restructuring or a serious tightening of the belt.

Honestly, the constant vague calendar invites are the most exhausting part of working here lately. It’s impossible to focus on actual projects when every notification feels like a potential pink slip. If there really is a hiring freeze, it’s probably a reaction to the recent regulatory pressures and rising maintenance costs, but they’ll never admit that to us directly until it’s already happening. Don't stress too much yet, but definitely keep your options open and your resume updated. These cycles usually hit the most unexpectedly.
