Did anyone else see the filing for the Eau Claire location? 28 people gone as of Feb 1st. It feels like the slow burn is finally hitting the smaller hubs. Management kept saying everything was 'restructuring' and 'streamlining operations,' but we all know that’s just HR speak for getting heads off the payroll before the end of Q1. I’ve been hearing rumors that the headcount reduction isn't going to stop with these 28. If you’re in a support role or anything that doesn’t directly touch the grid, keep your resume polished. It’s getting real quiet in the hallways, and the lack of transparency from leadership is honestly the worst part. Stay safe out there.

It is honestly exhausting watching them use 'streamlining' as a cover for cutting people who have been here for years. The Eau Claire office is a close-knit group, and seeing 28 coworkers get the axe while leadership talks about Q1 efficiency is a slap in the face. My department is currently on edge because we all know the grid-support roles are likely next on the chopping block. It feels like the company is just squeezing every last bit of productivity out of us before trimming us down to bare bones. Keep your head on a swivel.

I wouldn't be surprised if those 28 are just the tip of the iceberg. Xcel has been pushing this corporate efficiency narrative for months, but the reality on the ground is just pure stress and uncertainty. If you aren't physically climbing poles or working in the control center, your job security is basically a guessing game right now. Everyone I talk to is already updating their resumes and looking at other utility companies in the area. The culture here has shifted so much lately; it just doesn't feel like the same place anymore.
