Xcel Energy: Signs of trouble or just rumors?

Hey everyone, been with Xcel for a few years now and lately, the office vibe feels... off. There's a lot of hushed talk, especially after that last earnings call where they mentioned 'efficiency improvements'. Sounds like corporate speak for cost-cutting to me. I haven't seen any official announcements or gotten any direct communication about layoffs, but the general anxiety is palpable. People are looking over their shoulders more than usual, and there's a definite increase in people updating their resumes, or at least subtly asking around. Is anyone else picking up on this? Any departments that seem particularly vulnerable? Trying to stay optimistic, but it's hard not to worry when the whispers get louder. Just want to get a sense if this is a widespread feeling or if I'm just caught up in the grapevine.

I've noticed the same thing in my department. The 'efficiency improvements' language is definitely making the rounds, and it's creating a lot of uncertainty. While nothing concrete has been announced, the atmosphere is definitely tense. People are worried about job security and what it might mean for their roles. It's tough when you feel like there's a storm coming but you don't know when or how it will hit.

Interesting to hear others are feeling the same. I've been trying to dismiss it as just office gossip, but the consistent whispers about cost-cutting measures and 'restructuring' after the earnings report are hard to ignore. Management hasn't addressed it directly, which only seems to fuel the speculation. Hopefully, it's just a standard business cycle and not something more serious for our jobs.
