Culture shift at Xylem - is it just me?

Has anyone else noticed a massive decline in morale lately? It feels like the company is pivoting hard toward purely cost-cutting metrics rather than actually investing in the engineering or product side. I’ve been here for a few years and the atmosphere used to be collaborative, but now it feels like every meeting is just about how to survive the next budget trim. With the recent layoffs in Tewksbury and the constant whispers about further consolidation, it’s getting hard to stay motivated. Leadership keeps talking about 'operational excellence,' but it’s becoming obvious that’s just code for 'doing the same work with 20% fewer people.' Anyone else feeling like they need to update their resume just to be safe? I don't want to leave, but the uncertainty is starting to weigh on me, especially with the way communication has broken down from the top down.

It’s definitely not just you. The vibe has shifted from being an engineering-focused company to a spreadsheet-driven one overnight. Everyone I talk to in the office is just waiting for the next round of cuts rather than actually building anything. It’s draining to see the focus move so far away from the product quality that kept people here in the first place. Hard to stay committed when it feels like we’re being managed by an algorithm focused on short-term margins rather than long-term health.
