It’s finally official. The WARN notice filed back in May finally culminated in the 91 layoffs that just went through. If you are sitting in the Louisville office, you probably saw the empty desks or the awkward quiet in the hallways this morning. It’s always the same script—'strategic restructuring' to drive global growth, while the people who actually built these workflows are the ones packing up boxes. I’ve been hearing rumblings about this since Q2, but it doesn't make it any less of a gut punch when the calendar invite for a 'team sync' turns out to be your final exit meeting. If you were impacted, reach out on LinkedIn—there are a few of us here trying to keep a list of open roles at other QSRs and franchise groups to help folks land. For those still sitting there: stay alert. Management keeps talking about 'efficiencies,' which is corporate speak for 'more cuts coming down the pipeline.' Stay safe out there.

It is honestly disgusting how they cloak these layoffs in corporate buzzwords like 'strategic restructuring.' They call it driving global growth, but it really just means sacrificing the livelihoods of 91 people in Louisville to satisfy shareholders. I feel for everyone affected today; watching colleagues pack up their desks is never easy, especially when you know their hard work is what kept those workflows running. This company claims to prioritize its culture, but when things get tight, the humans are always the first line item to be cut. Absolute gut punch for the entire office.

I was expecting this ever since the WARN notice dropped, but it still feels surreal seeing it actually happen. The energy in the building today is just miserable—that specific kind of silence you only get after a round of cuts. It is tough to keep motivation high when the 'global growth' strategy relies on thinning out the local team that actually knows how to run the business. I really hope the folks who were let go find something better quickly because they deserve way more respect than they got today.
