Is anyone else just exhausted? I’ve been here for a few years and the morale feels like it’s completely cratered since the start of the year. Between the constant pivoting on digital initiatives and the mounting pressure from the top to show 'innovation' without any actual investment in the staff, it’s just unsustainable. I look at my calendar and it’s back-to-back meetings about cost-cutting, yet we are somehow expected to push out new tech rollouts that are half-baked at best. The recent 91-person cut was just the cherry on top. It feels like every time we turn a corner, leadership has a new plan to 'realign' the business, and all that happens is the survivors get saddled with double the workload. I’m seriously considering looking for an exit before the next round of 'strategic adjustments' happens. Does anyone know if the RIFs are done for the fiscal year, or should I keep my resume updated on the daily?

I’m right there with you. The disconnect between leadership’s 'innovation' obsession and the reality of the store-level experience is exhausting. We’re being stretched thinner than ever to support these half-baked digital rollouts that just create more friction for the teams. It feels like every meeting is just a different flavor of how to do more with less, and frankly, the burnout is palpable. I’ve started updating my resume because the current trajectory just doesn’t feel sustainable for anyone trying to maintain a life outside these walls.

It is honestly depressing to watch the direction things have taken lately. The constant pivot to digital initiatives feels less like a strategic evolution and more like a desperate attempt to look good for the street while the actual operations are crumbling under the weight of cost-cutting. It’s hard to stay motivated when you see the budget getting sucked into tech that nobody asked for, while the staff who actually make the business function are treated like an afterthought. You are definitely not alone in feeling like this place has lost its way.
