Anyone hearing rumors about Q3 restructuring?

Is anyone else getting a weird vibe from leadership lately? I’ve been with Zebra for a few years now, and the silence from the top during the last couple of all-hands meetings feels different than usual. Usually, they have some canned optimism to share, but the last one felt rushed and purely focused on the stock price rather than any actual project updates. I’m hearing whispers in my department about mid-year budget clawbacks, and a few managers I trust are suddenly acting very cagey whenever headcount comes up in 1:1s. I’m not saying there’s a formal RIF on the books for next week, but the tone of the internal comms has shifted. If anyone in finance or HR is seeing anything out of the ordinary regarding headcount planning or unexpected freezes on open reqs, please chime in. I’d rather be prepared than blindsided if the rumors have any teeth to them.

The vibe is definitely off lately. I’ve noticed the same shift in the town halls—it’s all about the margins now and zero focus on the actual work we’re doing. My lead is suddenly impossible to pin down for any long-term planning, and the budget tightening is becoming impossible to ignore. Whatever is coming in Q3, they clearly don't want to tip their hand yet, but the anxiety in the office is palpable. Just keep your head down and start backing up your personal files because the atmosphere feels exactly like it did before the last round of cuts.

I honestly think the silence from leadership is a calculated move to keep the stock price steady before they make an announcement. We’ve been hearing the same rumors about headcount reductions in the backend teams for weeks, and the ‘canned optimism’ trope has clearly run its course. It’s frustrating because we’re the ones doing the actual heavy lifting while management hides behind slide decks. If you're feeling weird about it, trust your gut—usually, when it gets this quiet and evasive, something significant is definitely in the works.
