Zebra Tech - Performance review season and my anxiety is through the roof

So, it's that time of year again. Performance reviews at Zebra. Normally, I'm pretty chill about it, but this year feels different. With all the economic uncertainty going around in the tech sector generally, and the quietness around here lately (aside from the usual 'hustle harder' emails), I can't shake this feeling. My manager's been a bit more… direct… in his feedback lately. Not necessarily negative, but definitely highlighting areas for 'improvement' that feel a little pointed. And the constant talk about 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' feels like it's got a double meaning. Is anyone else feeling this? Like the review isn't just about your personal performance, but also about how 'essential' you are perceived to be in the current climate? I'm trying to stay positive and focus on hitting my goals, but it’s hard not to let the mind wander to the worst-case scenarios. Just looking to see if anyone else is in the same boat or has any advice on how to navigate this particular review season. Trying not to spiral. Thanks.

Hang in there. I'm feeling a similar vibe. The economic climate is definitely making everyone a bit more on edge, and it feels like that's trickling down into how reviews are being handled. Hopefully, it's just a standard year-end push and not a sign of bigger things. Keep your head down and focus on what you can control.

Totally get where you're coming from. The 'hustle harder' stuff combined with pointed feedback can be super stressful, especially when you know the economic outlook is shaky. Try to frame the feedback constructively – what specific actions can you take to address those 'improvement' areas? Documenting your progress might give you some peace of mind.
