The Neptune City situation is just the beginning. I have seen this cycle repeat itself three times now over the last decade. They gaslight everyone with corporate buzzwords like 'optimizing infrastructure' while the executive team prepares for another round of cuts to keep the quarterly numbers looking pretty for Wall Street. When they start using the word 'streamlining' in every other sentence during the all-hands meeting, it is time to refresh your resume and start looking for a parachute. Don't trust the reassurances from middle management; they are usually the last ones to know, or they are just reading from a script provided by HR.
I honestly think people are overreacting a bit. Every major pharma company goes through these periodic adjustments to stay competitive, and frankly, some of the projects being cut were dead weight anyway. It is tough to see colleagues go, but if Zoetis doesn't prioritize its high-margin portfolios, the stock price will tank and things will get much worse for everyone. It is not necessarily personal, it is just business. Just keep your head down, do your job, and focus on the core products that actually generate revenue. Stability is relative in this industry, so just focus on your own performance and stop worrying about the macro-level decisions you cannot control.
