Just saw the WARN notice hit for the NY site. 162 heads being cut effective late April. It’s always the same story—leadership claims we are 'optimizing for the future' while they quietly gut regional teams to pad the Q1/Q2 earnings reports. My heart goes out to the 162 people who just had their livelihoods handed a deadline. If you’re at the Westchester or Bronx facilities, start hitting your network hard today. Don't wait for the official HR meeting to update your resume. Does anyone know if there’s a severance package attached to this specific notice or if it’s just the standard minimum?

It is honestly disgusting how they frame these cuts as 'strategic optimization' right before earnings calls. I’ve been through two rounds of layoffs at Abbott already, and the pattern never changes. They act like these are necessary pivots, but it’s really just about manipulating the stock price at the expense of loyal employees. If you are one of the 162 affected, please don't just sit and wait for the severance details. Reach out to your old managers and peers immediately; many of us who survived previous rounds are happy to provide referrals or connections. Stay strong.

I’m so sorry to hear this news. I remember the anxiety of getting that notification email back in 2022. It feels like the company culture has shifted drastically over the last few years, prioritizing Wall Street optics over the actual people building the diagnostic tools. Take the time you need to process the shock, but please start downloading your performance reviews and contact lists from your internal portals before they cut your network access. Your skills are highly transferable in the biotech sector, and there are definitely better organizations out there that value stability.
