Am I overthinking the constant 'talent reviews'?

Been seeing a lot more 'talent review' meetings popping up in calendars, even for teams that aren't typically involved in that kind of deep dive. It's framed as 'strategic talent planning' and 'ensuring we have the right skills for the future.' On the surface, it sounds like good management practice, but it feels a bit intense. Managers are asking for more detailed project involvement and skill mapping than usual. Combined with the other subtle signs – the budget tightening, the focus on 'core competencies' – it's hard not to connect the dots. Makes me a bit anxious about job security, even though there's no official word. Just feels like a lot of assessment is happening.

Could be nothing, but it does sound like they're gearing up for something. More detailed skill mapping and project involvement often precedes reorganizations or strategic shifts. It's good to be aware of what's happening around you and how it might impact your role. Keep your resume updated and keep an eye on internal communications – just in case. It's probably best to focus on your current contributions and demonstrate your value, but a little proactive awareness never hurt anyone.
