Anyone else feel the budget tightening recently?

Hey everyone, been at Abbott for a few years now, and lately, things just feel… tight. It's not just me, right? We've had a few mandatory 'efficiency' town halls, and the messaging around resources seems to be getting more guarded. Travel is harder to get approved, discretionary spending is practically non-existent, and I've noticed fewer new projects getting greenlit. Even some of the perks we took for granted seem to be under review. Makes me a bit nervous, especially with the economic climate. Just trying to gauge if this is an Abbott-wide thing or if I'm just in a department that's feeling the pinch more than others. Anyone else seeing similar trends or hearing anything specific?

Yeah, I'm feeling it too. The 'efficiency' talks are definitely becoming more frequent, and it feels like a shift from just a few years ago. Getting approvals for anything outside the absolute core business feels like pulling teeth. I've also noticed a slowdown in hiring for non-critical roles, which points to a cautious approach. It’s understandable given the broader economic picture, but it does create a bit of an anxious atmosphere when you're trying to plan and execute.

This is definitely not isolated. While not every department is experiencing it the same way, the overall trend towards tighter controls on spending and resources is pretty evident across the board. It seems like a strategic move to preserve capital and focus on key growth areas. Just trying to stay adaptable and focus on delivering strong results in my own area, hoping that helps navigate through this period.
