Increased scrutiny on expenses - anyone else feeling it?

Just me or is there a serious tightening of the purse strings happening right now? I'm talking about everything from travel requests needing multiple layers of approval, to limits on software subscriptions, to even basic office supplies. It feels like every dollar is being looked at under a microscope. It's one thing to be mindful of costs, but this feels like a significant shift. We used to have a bit more autonomy, but now it feels like we need to justify every single purchase. Curious if this is a company-wide directive or if it's just my department getting the squeeze. It's making some day-to-day tasks a lot more cumbersome. Wondering if this is a precursor to something bigger, or just a temporary belt-tightening measure.

Yeah, I'm definitely seeing it too. Seems like every expense report is getting a deep dive, and even small things like ordering a new mouse require a justification that feels a bit over the top. My team's budget for training and development has been significantly cut, which is frustrating when we're trying to stay competitive. It's making project planning a lot harder when you can't rely on having the necessary resources readily available.

Absolutely. The emphasis on cost control feels much more pronounced lately. There's a palpable shift in how approvals are handled, and it's creating some bottlenecks. While I understand the need for fiscal responsibility, it sometimes feels like it's impacting our ability to be agile and efficient. Even simple software renewals are taking ages to get signed off on. Hopefully, it's a temporary phase and not a permanent change in operational philosophy.
