Is Abbott hitting the brakes on hiring?

Seeing a lot of job postings disappear from the careers page lately, and roles that were open for months are suddenly closed with no explanation. My team has been trying to backfill a position for ages, and now it seems like that's on indefinite hold. Even for critical roles. Feels like a clear sign that the company is tightening its belt, even if they aren't calling them layoffs yet. Makes you wonder what's coming next. Anyone else noticed this hiring freeze or slowdown? Wondering if this is a precursor to something bigger.

Yeah, I've been seeing the same thing. It's definitely unnerving. We had a few roles open up in my department a few months back, and they were up for a long time before suddenly closing without any updates. Makes it hard to plan anything, you know? Everyone's trying to figure out if it's just a temporary pause or something more significant. The uncertainty is the worst part, especially when you're in the middle of a search for a key position. Hopefully, it's just a seasonal slowdown, but it feels different this time.

I'm not so sure it's a full-on freeze. Sometimes these things are just internal shifts in priorities or budget reallocations that aren't communicated effectively. My team just managed to get approval for a new hire after a lengthy back-and-forth, so it's not impossible, just maybe much, much harder. Keep pushing through the channels you have, document everything, and if there's a business case for the role that clearly shows ROI, highlight that. It might just take a bit more horsepower to get approvals.
