Is anyone else feeling a lot of new 'urgent' tasks popping up?

Lately, it feels like every other day a new 'critical initiative' lands on my plate. Most of them seem to require immediate attention and pull resources away from existing projects that are already understaffed. It's not necessarily that the new tasks are bad, but the sheer volume and the constant shifting of priorities is exhausting. I'm starting to wonder if we're setting ourselves up for failure by chasing too many rabbits at once. Has anyone else experienced this sudden influx of urgent tasks, and how are you managing?

Oh, absolutely. I've been feeling the same way here at Abbott. It's like a constant game of whack-a-mole trying to keep up. New priorities land seemingly daily, and the old ones still need attention. I'm finding it incredibly challenging to maintain focus and deliver quality work when everything is supposedly top priority. It does make you wonder about the long-term sustainability of this approach.

Yes, the 'urgent initiative' phenomenon is definitely real at Abbott these days. It's hard to say no when something is framed as critical, but the cumulative effect is significant. I've noticed a definite strain on resources and morale. It feels like we're spread incredibly thin, and I worry about burnout if this pace continues. Hoping for some clearer prioritization soon.
