Is anyone else seeing a lot of 'critical role' postings that seem to replace multiple existing positions?

Lately, I've been noticing a pattern where we're posting for new roles, sometimes described as 'critical' or 'high-impact,' but when you look at the responsibilities listed, it seems like they're consolidating tasks that were previously spread across 2-3 people. It's making me wonder if this is a subtle way to trim headcount without outright layoffs. The job descriptions are really broad, and the qualifications are pretty demanding, almost like they're setting up a single person to do the work of a small team. Anyone else pick up on this? Feels like a slow bleed rather than a direct cut, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. Just seems like a strange way to structure things if it's not for efficiency gains that eventually lead to fewer people.
