It is definitely the new normal. I remember when the focus was actually on long-term growth and scientific breakthroughs, but now it feels like we are just chasing quarterly KPIs to keep the stock price propped up. The transparency in town halls is non-existent because leadership is terrified of admitting that 'streamlining' is just a polite term for gutting our best teams. It is demoralizing to see talented people treated like disposable assets just to satisfy a few analysts on a conference call.
You are spot on about the lack of transparency. These town halls have become scripted PR exercises where real questions get buried or ignored. The shift from innovation to pure margin management is glaringly obvious to anyone who has been here more than a couple of years. At this point, I think we have to accept that the company culture has fundamentally changed. If you are waiting for the 'old' Abbott to come back, you are going to be disappointed. It is just spreadsheet management now.
