Noticing a lot more 'streamlining' initiatives. What's the endgame?

Been here a while, and while the company always talks about efficiency, the recent push feels different. We're getting constant emails and town halls about 'streamlining processes,' 'optimizing workflows,' and 'driving synergy.' On the ground, this translates to people wearing multiple hats, increased reporting requirements, and a general sense of 'busyness' without necessarily seeing a corresponding increase in output that justifies the effort. I keep wondering what the end goal is. Is this just standard corporate speak, or is there a larger restructuring or cost-cutting effort underway that hasn't been openly communicated? Seeing colleagues who used to manage specific functions now having to juggle things that seem outside their original scope. It’s creating a lot of anxiety and makes it tough to plan long-term.
